What's the difference between eloping and having a wedding?

I keep seeing people with small weddings (so small ceremony, not many people in attendance, then a more informal reception) call it an elopement. I always thought wedding was a ceremony then reception, no matter how small, and elopement was just a ceremony that's usually not got a party after it? via /r/weddingplanning http://ift.tt/2t6nAym
