BHLDN sample sale experience (NYC)

Saw a couple of other ladies posting about their experiences with the BHLDN sample sale and figured I'd throw in my own! I visited the NYC store (Upper East Side). Seems like their set up was a little more organized, but more time-consuming than other places. And good news for anyone who didn't go today - there may be gowns left for tomorrow's sale! The sale was supposed to start at 11 am - I arrived at 11:10 and ended up in a line behind about 10 women. There was a staff member at the front of the line writing down everyone's name and phone number. The process worked like this - you gave them your name and phone number for a "mini appointment." Before your appointment, you could browse the dresses for sale - 3 racks of mixed size 4s and size 12s, and a 4th rack of separates. You were not allowed to take any dresses off the rack before your appointment - so anyone who knew what they wanted and didn't need to try on was SOL - you had to wait for an appointment. But you could look at the dresses and make note of which you wanted to try on later. They were mostly in pretty good condition, although some had rips or make up smears on them (5 or 6 dresses had noticeable tears or marks on them) - but there were at least 50 dresses that were just fine. All the separates looked to be in good condition.By the time I put my name down, 10 min after the store opened, I was on the second page of names - probably 40 names ahead of me. I spent some time trying on bridesmaid dresses with similar cuts to the wedding dresses - to get a feel for what styles I liked. Then I went shopping in the neighborhood. I finally got the phone call for my appointment at 2:30 - so about 3.5 hours after I'd gotten to the store. However, when they call you, you only have 5 minutes to get there or they just go to the next person - so I couldn't go far.I was assigned a stylist, got to pick 3 dresses to try on - unfortunately there was a miscommunication, when I first got to the store, I was told that you had 30 minutes, and could try on 3 dresses at a time - but if you were done with those in less than 30 min, you could try more dresses. The stylist working with me said that was wrong, it's 3 dresses PERIOD. So for you ladies planning on going tomorrow - make sure you're sure you have the right 3! Or you have to make a new appointment and wait another 3+ hours. :PBut even after 3 hours of women trying on dresses there were plenty left. Only one of the ones I had had my eye on was gone. So I tried on the Essex, the Adalynn, and the Carissa. The Adalynn was the ONE! So crazy, I wasn't even planning on buying today - this was my first time trying on dresses - but as soon as I tried it on it felt really right. Felt beautiful and glamorous! And it was only $200! Although there were some slight tears in the back - 2 pea-sized rips in the mesh part - but fine with me for saving so much off the original $1800 price tag!If any of you ladies are planning on going tomorrow, I recommend getting there at least 20 min before the doors open to put your name down - so you don't get stuck waiting 3.5 hours like I did. I left the store around 3:15 and there were still at least 25 dresses at that time, plus separates, so there still may be some tomorrow am. Good luck!!! via /r/weddingplanning http://ift.tt/2uZMq3t
