Personal Shopper - yay or nay?

Hi everyone! First time poster, long time lurker. I didn't see what I was looking for when I searched so I'm hoping I can get some insight with a fresh, new post.So we're having a very low key, low(er) budget wedding. I want my dress to cost no less than $4-500 so I thought of going to Nordstrom or Lord and Taylor since they're high end but they aren't going to have JUST gowns for thousands of dollars, like David's Bridal. I've set up an appointment with a personal shopper in NYC @ Lord & Taylor on 5th Ave.Now, I know they're going to try to get me to spend $$. My questions are:-Is it worth it having to give my poker face when they try to get me to buy things I wasn't anticipating?-Do you think it's better to have a personal shopper for something specific like this or it's kind of a waste of time and I should just go and check things out with my squad? Will they get stuff specifically for me ahead of time that I wouldn't see otherwise?Any help is appreciated - I'm leaning towards no and that I should probably cancel. Because if I could just look at my leisure and see the same dresses, I'd rather do that. Thanks! via /r/weddingplanning http://ift.tt/2uJypHY
