Dress Shopping - is this normal or should I feel upset?

Hi Weddit.Yesterday I went to my third wedding dress appointment and had a weird experience I'm hoping you all can talk me through. My consultant and I talked everything over, what I wanted, what I had tried on before, my budget ($1200), etc etc. She genuinely picked good designs and I felt overall listened to my feedback, however it became clear that I wanted a little something "more" with the skirts of my dress (a lot were plain) and she suggested adding a layer of glittery tulle beneath the top layer of any dress. Long story short I loved the idea. We tried on two more dresses and with the extra layer, I was confident enough to say yes!!This is where the trouble comes in. My max budget was $1200 -- which I realize isn't the most money -- and this dress was $1650. She never warned me of that because she said I could take home the sample and they'd add the extra layer for $1200. However, a) I never said I was interested in buying the sample and b) the dress was a little tight and my back was muffining over the top because it was a low cut. While they kept telling me alterations could take out some of the boning and it would be fine, I felt like a bigger size was probably the solution but I couldn't purchase a bigger size because it was $450 out of my budget.... The owner was trying to show me further alterations I could do to my dress (add straps or a little fabric to the back to cover it up) but I was so fixated on the fact that I'd have to roll the dice and pray alterations could work magic that I ended up just leaving. How would you guys react / what would you have done?? I left feeling defeated and disappointed and told them I'd sleep on it. via /r/weddingplanning http://ift.tt/2wd8BnA
