Looking for advice on how to budget!

I'm newly engaged and soo excited to start planning! However, I have no idea where to begin with the budget. I love reading budget recaps on Weddit and I've noticed many posts include the percent of budget allocated to certain vendors/items. Did you start with a rough list of allocation amounts or did you book everything and then break it down? We've roughly decided how much we want to spend, so at least I have a starting point!
