I know there's already been a few writeups but the ones I read were pretty different from my experience so I thought I'd share, especially because I wouldn't have known about the sample sale if not for this subreddit!I told my MOH about the sample sale last week, but she lives in SF (it would take her an hour to get out of SF and to drive to PA). I'm only 15 minutes away so this morning I told her she didn't need to bother, it might be a short shopping trip for her to come all the way down here, and all my 'top choices' from online shopping were not from BHLDN so I was unlikely to buy anything. So she didn't come and I went by myself.I arrived at about 10:40 for an 11 am start time. One door (the parking lot side) had zero line, I was surprised no one was waiting. I walked to the other door, and there was a small line, but nothing too crazy. Maybe 15-20 people ahead of me. By the time the store opened, there was probably another 15-20 people behind me.When the doors opened, everyone stayed in a very orderly fashion and we walked through the store in a single file line up the stairs. No one was pushing or shoving or running (which was a surprise to me, honestly!! I thought it would be a free for all). When we got to the BHLDN part of the Anthropologie store, they told us to stay in line because we were going to get let in in waves. They went over ground rules - 15 minutes in the fitting room, strictly enforced, can try on 3 at a time, only dresses size 4 and 12 were available, no limit, final sale. I was pretty happy about this because I'm a street size 4, at least the samples (if any were left) would be in my size. They let the first 5 brides (and groups) in.I could see the racks from where I was standing in line, and there were only two small-ish racks and I would guess each rack only had 10-15 dresses. I was pretty sure that by the time I got to the racks, there would be nothing left.I think I was the #9 bride let in, and of course, when I got to the rack there was only two dresses on the size 4 rack that other brides had already tried on and had returned. I waited around a few moments and someone dropped off a dress and I snatched it up pretty quickly, even though it wasn't something I would have picked out.It was the Selah gown marked down to $300. It fit pretty perfect off the rack: Selah 1, Back of Selah, but while very lovely, it wasn't really my style. There was also some damage - one of the two back tulle pieces isn't secured and bottom of the zipper area had a rip (you can see the tail end of the zipper sticking out). I told my MOH that maybe if I was having a Gatsby themed wedding, this would be a fit, but I should keep looking.I lingered a bit but with nothing else really getting returned to the size 4 rack, I almost left, but then someone gave back to a salesperson a dress that caught my eye - the Amalia. I asked to try it on before it hit the rack again. I'm glad I did, because I really liked it: Front, back. Because I had no friend to help me, I couldn't get it buttoned in the back (lol). This also wasn't what I had in mind, but I asked myself - would I have regret if I didn't buy it? And I thought, maybe. probably. yes. And at $300 it was quite a steal.I have appointments coming up to keep shopping, but all-in-all, I was really thrilled with this find and I consider myself really lucky that I didn't wait that long in line and left with a gown that's in my size. I went back to the store an hour after I made the purchase (about ~1 pm) just to see if anything else was still left or returned to the rack, and there was basically only about 5 dresses and all in size 12. I overheard a bride ask a salesperson, "Wasn't this sale supposed to run through Tuesday?" and the salesperson said, "Yes, but we pretty much sold out in the first hour, sorry." I have to say - the staff here was REALLY awesome and really nice so shout-out to them for keeping it all orderly :)Anyway, hope this helps - best of luck in all your gown hunting! via /r/weddingplanning http://ift.tt/2tE4yAt
