Seat assignments vs. table assignments?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle table/seat assignments for our reception. We're having rectangular 12 ft tables with six guests seated on either side. For some tables, large groups of friends will take up the whole thing. Other tables, however, will combine more than one smaller grouping. (For example, FH and I both invited about 6 coworkers, so my coworkers and his might all sit together at the same table.)At the very least, we're assigning guests to tables. However, would we be better off assigning each person to an individual seat? Or will guests be able to figure out where to sit next to people they know once they're assigned to a table?(We're doing a buffet, so meal assignments aren't really an issue.) via /r/weddingplanning http://ift.tt/2t1QELF
