Has anyone NOT had a photographer?

FH and I were discussing our planning checklist last night and now that we've got the venue and caterer down and my dress appointments scheduled, next on the list is a photographer. FH threw out the idea that maybe we don't need one. We'll have a photo booth and lots of our guests are the type to take thousands of photos with their phones, so I think this might be a reasonable idea. We don't have a ton of family (he has dad/stepmom/brother/grandparents, and I have brother/SIL/niece/nephew/three uncles) and he's thinking it we'd get just as much nostalgic value if not more by cramming everyone into the photo booth/having someone take iPhone photos. He thinks (and I agree) that neither of us would really be the type to sit down and look through a physical photo album and neither of us really cares about the standard family photos. Our wedding is going to be super non traditional and there's a lot of stuff that you're "supposed" to do that we're not, so maybe this is one of those things? When I envision not having a photographer, the only thing I can imagine missing is photos of us against landscape or the sunset, but I'm not sure whether that's worth a few thousand dollars, especially since it's going to be June in Phoenix and we'll be a sweaty mess outside anyway. What do you guys think? Has anyone skipped the photographer? Did you regret it? via /r/weddingplanning http://ift.tt/2tZKM5b
